Message Hi Jon,

I admit to being remiss in keeping the two projects in sync. Many of
the Antelope tasks were migrated to Ant-Contrib, and those that were are
maintained (that is, kept up to date and in sync) in both projects. I
don't control the release schedule for Ant-Contrib, which tends to be
slow. I do control the release schedule for Antelope, and changes and
updates are posted fairly frequently.

For the short term, your best bet is to use them both. I tend to use
the antlib namespace syntax, so there aren't any naming conflicts, but
that means you'll need to put the jar files in Ant's lib directory.

Message We're already using ant-contrib fairly heavily in our build scripts, but
we've been sorely lacking the Antelope StringUtils task, which I've only
just heard about. (Currently I'm using Groovy, sometimes just for the
sake of upper-casing a single string!)

The Antelope Tasks introductory page implies (I think!) that all the
Antelope tasks are part of ant-contrib - but I can't find StringUtils
either in the release version or in CVS.

Is StringUtils being migrated to ant-contrib, and is there a target date
for this? If not, I suspect my best plan is to use the Antelope jar file
and taskdef just StringUtils. Any comments?
